I love it when couples suggest places that are meaningful to them for their engagement sessions. Lindsey and Almir met in Athens while Lindsey was attending the University of Georgia, and Almir had just graduated from there. Fast forward 7 years later, and they’re planning their October wedding! So as soon as Lindsey told me they they wanted to do their photos there, I was immediately on board!
Even though my plans changed and I didn’t get to go to UGA like I originally intended, I have always loved it and have been a longtime fan of the Georgia Bulldogs (Go Dawgs!). It was amazing to be back in Athens strolling the campus. They even brought along their sweet little wiener dog Delilah for the shots in downtown Athens, and even though she didn’t seem to want to cooperate for the camera much, she was still super adorable!
But Mother Nature almost had other plans for us on the day of the session! We had been watching the weather for days, and every day the forecast called for partly cloudy with low chance of rain. But when I arrived in Athens, it was POURING. I was devastated and already trying to think of backup options, but held out hope that somehow the rain would stop in the hour til the session. It was still raining when we met up at our first location, the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia, but we tried to stay under shelter and shoot anyway. Somehow we got extremely lucky, and the rain stopped completely and the sun came out by the time we left the Botanical Gardens and headed to the campus! We had beautiful glowing sunset light for the rest of our session, and I was relieved because I had been SO excited about this session! Shooting a session in downtown Athens and on the UGA campus had been an item on my photography bucket list, and I can finally check that off!
Now, let me ask you, can you even really tell it was raining in these pictures? Because I don’t think you can! That’s the magic and power of editing, folks! I hope you enjoy some of my favorite shots from Lindsey and Almir’s engagement session at the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia and the University of Georgia campus! I cannot wait for their wedding day!
