When I first met with Monica and Matt when they inquired with me, they warned me about two things right away: 1. That their ceremony would be underneath a bridge, which would be a lighting challenge, and 2. Monica is a crier. I tucked both of these bits of info away for later.

Fast forward to the wedding day, and I came prepared with flashes and and lighting equipment to shoot under the bridge. And as for Monica’s, in her words, “ugly crying”? Well I have never seen more beautiful tears! There was NOTHING “ugly” about her tears of happiness as they walked back down the aisle together. When I saw her excitedly squeal to Matt “We’re married!!” around the corner after they exited, I burst into tears myself!

I do tend to get emotional myself at wedding days, but this particular wedding day was probably the one I’ve shed the most tears during. Between the bride’s heartstrings-tugging first look with her dad, to the bride and groom’s first look and their few private moments together before they became husband and wife, to their emotional ceremony and vows, I was kind of a wreck!

Every little detail of their wedding was just perfect, from their dog getting walked down the aisle wearing a “Dog of Honor” bandana, to their elegantly coordinated cobalt blue and copper decor, to the hilariously choreographed Mother/Son dance that Matt and his mother performed (that included Gangham Style!), everything perfectly reflected the two of them as a couple: the perfect mixture of humor and sweetness. And their reception dance floor was LIT! Big shout-out to the bride and groom’s friends and family, who kept me on my toes all night getting amazing dance floor shots! Y’all brought the PARTY!

One of my favorite moments of the wedding was when Matt’s brother gave his toast wearing a sign that read “Warning! Not Matt!” and he explained in his toast that Monica has confused him for Matt from behind before and gotten a surprise when he turned around! His sign inspired a lot of laughs throughout the night! I also LOVED their glow stick exit at the end of the night using an official race starting line, since they met in a running club!

Thank you, Matt and Monica, for not just being amazing clients but sweet friends as well!
